Application Maintenance Toolset (AMT)
Toolset for installing and maintaining Lawson applications.
Lawson Application Maintenance Toolset (AMT) is a technical toolset provided to help with installing and maintaining Lawson applications. The AMT allows versioning and automated installation of database definitions and help text for installing Critical Transfer Packs, Maintenance Service Packs and cyclicals.
Lawson AMT strives to make it easier for clients to maintain Lawson applications by automating manual processes. It has been our consistent effort to save time for our clients and ensure client satisfaction as a measure of the quality of our products.
The salient features of Lawson AMT are:
- Delta ReadMe file: Current CTPs have large ReadMe files with the potential for only a small fraction of the listed objects/components to actually be installed. This sentence does not make sense – why was it changed? This makes it very difficult for clients to assess the impact of installing a CTP. The new tools will generate a productline specific ReadMe file (aka delta readme file) that will contain only those objects/components to be applied along with their corresponding special instructions (if required) that have not yet been applied to the productline. This feature will make it easier for the clients to assess the impact of a CTP.
- Automated uninstall: The current process for uninstalling a 4GL application maintenance deliverable is manual, time consuming, and error-prone. The new Lawson AMT tools will automate this process. With a single command, clients will be able to uninstall a CTP or MSP. This will be a big time saver and also will ensure integrity of the production source and GEN repository by eliminating the possibility of human error.
- Updating job definitions: Existing batch job definitions are invalidated when a batch parameter form is reformatted by a CTP/MSP; which requires the job definitions to be upgraded before execution. This manual upgrade process is very time consuming for clients and the Lawson AMT release will automate this process for every batch form change.
