City and Borough of Juneau Signs Multi-Suite Lawson Software Contract
Alaska's capital will use the Lawson system to help improve operational efficiencies and enhance service to constituents
ST. PAUL, Minn., Nov 24, 2008 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Lawson Software (Nasdaq: LWSN) today announced that the City and Borough of Juneau, Alaska, licensed the Lawson Human Resource Management Suite and the Lawson S3 Enterprise Financial Management, Supply Chain Management and Business Process Management Suites. The city will use the Lawson system to help automate administrative processes, streamline workflows and enhance service to its constituents. The contract was signed during Lawson's first quarter of fiscal 2009, which ended Aug. 31, 2008.
Juneau is the capital and third-largest city in Alaska. Located in the southeast part of the state, the City and Borough of Juneau has approximately 31,000 residents and is the city's primary employer. The unified Lawson system will replace the city's legacy business applications, helping staff improve operational efficiency by eliminating duplicate data entry and accelerating approval processes with automated workflow routing.
"We chose Lawson for its intuitive, flexible applications and because of the tools it provides that will assist CBJ employees to be more effective and efficient," said Kimberly Kiefer, deputy city manager, City and Borough of Juneau. "The Lawson system will help improve data access across departments, which can help employees respond to constituents' needs faster and with more accurate information."
The City and Borough of Juneau will use the Lawson system to help create timely, accurate reports for city administrators and automate formerly manual processes such as those associated with purchasing, budgeting and personnel transactions. The city also will use the Lawson system to create a single source of reliable data and help employees access real-time supply chain, financial and human resources data.
"Facing budget constraints and mandates for greater transparency in the use of taxpayer dollars, local governments need business systems that help streamline administration and financial reporting," said Cheryl Turk-Peterson, marketing director, Public Sector, Lawson. "Lawson's combination of affordable business applications and ease-of-use helps local governments focus their time on serving their communities."
Lawson serves more than 140 public sector customers, including three of the top seven digital state governments and four of the 25 largest school districts in the United States. State governments, cities, counties, school districts, publicly owned utilities/authorities and special districts rely on Lawson solutions to help meet the needs of a variety of stakeholders, including constituents, employees, students, vendors and communities, while helping to maximize limited budgets.
