Warehouse Integration
Warehouse Integration provides and improves flexibility for supply chain execution operations.
The latest developments in supply chain management concepts have brought supply chain execution and warehouse operations into focus. Trends such as globalization, time-based management, continuous replenishment within efficient consumer response and third-party logistics have forced companies to acquire a more efficient information flow and SCE operations.
Warehouse Integration (WHI) is designed to give smaller warehouses as well as larger distribution centers a flexible warehouse operations solution. The Warehouse Activity Control (WAC) component offers best-of-breed functions in areas such as wave picking, packing, cross-docking, pick resource planning and intelligent put-away.
WHI offers several interface points to operational warehouse equipment such as conveyers, radio frequency terminals, bar code readers and more. Local presence and support are crucial for the operational warehouse equipment, and WHI provides the necessary flexibility to choose the best solution in each situation.
WHI also enables practically seamless interface and communication with specialized warehouse management systems (WMSs). In the daily operations of large distribution centers, fast and seamless communications between a host and the execution system are essential. Information such as item data, expected receipts and picking tasks must be downloaded to the execution system in real time.
The execution system must upload receipts, shipments and packaging structure to the host. Information should be maintained in one system, and inter-database replication must be supported by a variety of communication technologies, such as EDI and XML. WHI supports direct file-to-file communication with or without a middleware and synchronous application programming interface (API) approach.
WHI is a flexible solution that fulfills the complex requirements of supply chain interoperability. By allowing essential information such as stock levels and available-to-promise figures to be shared among systems and partners, WHI enables you to reduce supply chain inventories and improve delivery accuracy.
