Crime Prevention

Assume for a moment that you know a crime is about to be committed. You’ve figured out the clues, worked all the angles, and you know exactly what’s going to happen. Yet, because of circumstances beyond your control, you can’t do a thing to stop it. How do you feel?

You probably feel the same way most users of business intelligence feel. Business intelligence was all about the past – what happened yesterday or 15 minutes ago. That’s fine for history majors but what if you have a business to run? How do you take action on intelligence that’s out of date? Is the intelligence even correct any more? If you correct a mistake that’s already been corrected, aren’t you making another mistake?

That’s why we’ve introduced the concept of Operational Business Intelligence. OBI can tell you what’s going on now. It can also preserve the connection to the business process underlying the intelligence. You can drill down to the root cause. When you get there, you can take steps to fix it. OBI links intelligence with action. You too can be a crime fighter.

As its name implies, The Lawson Opinionizer offers opinions. We believe we've got our facts straight but we don't guarantee it. A new Opinionizer appears every Monday. If you have an opinion, send an e-mail to Opinionizer@lawson.com
