Quick: what’s the best video game system on the market today? Is it Sony’s Playstation®, Microsoft’s Xbox®, or Nintendo’s Wii®?
Playstation and Xbox are battling for market leadership. Sony and Microsoft are focused on outperforming each other. That seems like a good strategy.
Wii, on the other hand, is number three. It seems unlikely that Wii will surpass Playstation or Xbox in total sales. So Nintendo doesn’t focus on the competition. It focuses on customers. Nintendo delivers what many customers want – a great gaming system that’s simple to use. That seems like a better strategy.
Lawson is the third largest publicly traded enterprise software vendor. You know who Number 1 and Number 2 are. They seem to worry about each other a lot. (Just look at their ads).
